Chicago Weight Loss Surgery
The Chicago Center for Bariatric Surgery at Westlake Hospital provides patients suffering from morbid obesity with the weight loss surgery, treatment and support they need to lose excess weight and keep it off.
- Laparoscopic Gastric Lap-Band Surgery - Offers a reversible, adjustable approach to weight loss surgery. A ring is placed around the upper part of the stomach, to ensure that you feel more full and eat less. The band is adjustable and can be removed if you choose.
- Single Incision Laparoscopic Gastric Lap-Band Surgery - The same as a regular Lap-Band surgery, except the band is inserted through a single incision, as opposed to six cuts - minimizing scarring and pain, and promoting a faster recovery time.
- Laparoscopic Gastric Sleeve Surgery - In the Gastrectomy surgical procedure, the stomach is reduced to about 15% of its original size by surgical removal of a large portion of the stomach, following the major curve. The open edges are then attached together, often with surgical staples, to form a sleeve or tube with a banana shape.

Patients will follow up with the Chicago weight loss surgeon regularly during the first year and then annually. How well you maintain your diet and exercise regime will determine the stability of your weight. Our staff will monitor your weight frequently and provide important dietary and exercise counseling.
In addition to the weight loss, you will also improve your overall health, noticing an elimination of many weight-related illnesses such as sleep apnea, diabetes, high blood pressure, and hyper-cholesterol. Nearly all patients report a higher quality of life following weight loss surgery.
